If something of yours is here without permission

Recipes on this site are posted by members, and some are drafted from a web page or a video someone pointed us at. That means material can end up here that its owner never agreed to.

If you hold the rights to a recipe text, photograph or video that appears here, write to us and we will look at it. We would rather take something down and discuss it than leave it up while we argue.

What to tell us

A short email is fine. You do not need a lawyer to ask us to remove something.

• A link to the page on this site showing the material.
• What exactly is yours — the whole recipe, one photograph, a few lines?
• Enough to show it is yours: where you first published it, or the original file.
• How to reach you.
• A statement that you believe the use is not authorised.

What we do

• We aim to look at every complaint within a few days.
• Material that plainly shouldn’t be here is unpublished straight away, before we decide anything else.
• We tell the person who posted it what was removed and why.
• If they think the complaint is wrong, they can reply and we will consider both sides.
• Repeatedly posting other people’s work costs someone their account.

A short recipe is not always protected

A bare list of ingredients generally isn’t protected by copyright in most countries — the way a recipe is written, its photographs and its headnotes usually are. We will say so if we think that is the situation, but we will still hear you out.

Anything else wrong with a page

For content that is abusive, unsafe, or someone’s personal information, use the flag on the recipe or review itself — it reaches the same people faster. Write to us for anything a flag doesn’t cover.
